Kairos: They focus heavily on the purpose of what is being submitted. They also care a lot about the audience, “The journal reaches a wide audience—currently 45,000 readers per month—hailing from Ascension Island to Zimbabwe.” They seem to be very picky with what they accept though. I think that the most important aspect of submitted to Kairos is that it has to be scholarly. They say being creative is good, as long as it is scholarly.

C&C Online: For the most part, they tell you right away what their submission criteria is. They give us five sections in which things should be submitted. The only other thing they say is that the submissions cannot be purely text-based. It seems that they only want scholarly multimedia, but they seem to be a little more lenient than Kairos.

Jump: Although the Jump is looking for scholarly multimedia, it is focused at undergraduate students. So, it should be a little more creative, and be able to be related to the students. This website seems to be the one that i would most likely submit something to, or look at the submissions tat other students made. They also focus on specific themes. Because most of the submissions are from class projects, themes seem to be specific.

SUMMARY:

Each journal is targeted at a different, specific audience. Because of this, each journals submission values differ from one another. Although each journal is in fact scholarly, there are different values based on the different audiences.

When I revise my literacy narrative, I am going to try to make it more enjoyable to listen to. Right now, it is just my voice telling a story about how the first time I ever tried to make cookies and how big of a fail it was. When I re-do it, I am going to add in some sounds and effects. As I’m telling the story, it’s going to be like the story is happening in the background. So, at certain points in the story, you are going to here what was going on in my apartment as we made/burnt the cookies. I am going to have my roommate be in it as well. I am also going to have a sountrack in the background most of the time. And when certain things happen, certain songs will help set the tone/mood of what is going on.

I chose the template of “chaos theory.” I chose it because the name sounded pretty cool. Also, i enjoy the colors. I also chose it because operating this blog is kind of like chaos or me. I had no idea how to work a blog until this. Which is kind of the same reason why i chose the widgets that i did. I honestly don’t know what half of those widgets are for. And the ones i do know what they are for, i just don’t use them.

The first example of digital media i found was a comedic trailer of The Wicker Man. We watched a few comedic trailers in class, but this is the first one i saw, and it’s really funny. This is targeted at a certain audience. There is an audience of people, myself included, that hates Nick Cage and thinks that most of his movies are bad. The purpose is comedy. They made this trailer because it was funny.

The second example i found was an advertisement for the working people. It is for a job fair. They tried to go for comedic advertising, but i think it backfired. Although it is kind of funny, i think that it is a piece of really bad advertisement. In terms of the text, it’s on the butt cheek. The text is referring to kissing ass to get a job. And its on an ass. Doesn’t get much clearer than that.

The third example i found is a commercial for Toby Jones’ Big Ass Truck Rental and Storage. My brother is in a comedy troupe named Big Dog Eat Child. They made this video as a joke. Although it may seem like a real commercial, it isn’t. The audience for this video is the vast population that goes on youtube to watch funny videos. They change the sequence up to enhance the comedic affect. This video is kind of making a play at the ridiculous advertisements out there, and that is why i chose it.
